Julius Berger, Wapco name new directors to boards

Construction giant, Julius Berger Plc at the weekend announced some changes in its board, in notice to NSE, the company announced that the board of Directors of at its meeting held on 29th December, 2012 approved new appointments to the board of the company with effect from January 1st, 2013.

Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim was appointed Administrative Director. A graduate of Building from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with B.Sc. (Hons.) in Building in 1983, joined Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in 1984 as a Pupil Engineer and later became Site Supervisor.

He has worked at different units and department. Between 1995 and 1999, he was assigned to cover all Julius Berger activities in Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi and Jos. From 1999 to date, Subairu has worked with the Managing Director on matters but not limited to, state house, National Assembly, Federal Ministry of Transport, Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Presidency.

Presently, the most prestigious aspect of his assignment is the coordination of all Julius Berger Nigeria activities at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

Mr. Herron David, Administrative Director is an Australian and graduate from University of Sydney, Australia in 1979 with BE (Civil). He has had 31 years of experience in the construction industry and has undertaken major infrastructure projects on 4 continents. His experience includes 16 years in the management of major bridgeworks projects that have been constructed in difficult urban environments.

 As Construction Director, Herron was responsible for the construction of a total of 45km of precast segmental viaducts on four major road projects in Bangkok. Mr. He joined Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in 2007 as Divisional Manager Industries Gas and Oil. He worked with Bifinger Berger AG between 1994 and 2006 and was at various times, Project Manager, Project Director, Construction Director and Coordination Manager.

Mr. George Marks  non-Executive Director is a German with Bachelor of Business Administration. He started as Commercial Manager, Tripoli, Libya between 1981 and 1988. Between 1989 and 2007 he was at a various times, Commercial Manager, Field Service, Finance Director and Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

He moved to Bilfinger Berger Nigeria Plc in 2008 and was Managing Director and later Head of Group Organisation, Bilfinger SE, Mannheim.

Lafarge Cement Wapco-Nigeria Plc, has also named Prince Adebode Adefioye as a new director to its boad.

 In a notice of the new appointment to NSE, the company said the appointment was sequel tothe board's  meeting held on Thursday, 20th December, 2012.

Prince Adebode graduated from University of Lagos in 1983 with B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry, in 1985 he obtained M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from the same University. He is a member of Institute of Directors as well as Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria.

He joined John Holt Plc in January 1987 as a management trainee after a short stint as a graduate staff in the Chemistry Department at the University of Lagos, and as Analyst with Loladson Consultants and Clina Laboratories.

 At John Holt, he held many management positions in Production and Quality Control, Personnel and Administration, Marketing and Sales. He rose to the position of a substantive Deputy General Manager before opting for an early retirement in 2002 and has since been active in business and public service, serving on the Board of several limited liability companies.

 He currently serves on the Board of Wema Bank Plc and Ceerem Investment Nigeria Ltd, Elmetec Nigeria and SW8 Investment Ltd.

Mr. Adebode is an avid golfer and held several positions in Ikeja Golf Club rising to Chief Executive in 2006.
