Investigating domestic crude oil deal

The report that the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke has ordered the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to conduct an investigation into the utilization of the crude oil reserved for domestic use is yet another indication of the corruption that has become the trademark of the oil business operations in Nigeria.
It is perhaps a sign of the growing moral degeneration in the country that the police recently announced the busting of a criminal gang trading in babies by forcibly employing young girls to get pregnant and make babies for the trade in Umuaka, Imo State.
The news is out that the much anticipated visit of the US President Barack Obama may not take place after all. It is the second time that President Obama will be giving Nigeria a serious diplomatic slap in the face.
The Governor of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, recently touched on an important aspect of nationhood which Nigeria has not taken seriously, especially in recent times, when he decried the reality of importation of food to feed Nigerians.
Nigeria continues to make itself the butt of many unpalatable jokes and render itself an incorrigible infant in the eyes of the world for both big and small things it gets itself dirtied by.
