Residents of Fakile in Ifo Local Government of Ogun State, last week, lamented over the bad roads in the area, particularly Alausa Road, disclosing that it had hampered the economic activities of the town.
Some of the residents of the town, who called on the state government to urgently rehabilitate the road, claimed that the Ogun State Government had gave series of assurance, in the past, of addressing the issue, but till date the government had not lived up to its promise.
A resident of the area, who preferred to be called Mrs. Kemi, said: “We suffer a lot on this road. If it is raining, we have to make use of boat to cross to other areas. Anytime it rains, cars and motorcycles can no longer ply the road.
“This is how the problem has been since year 2000. We have made several please to both state and local government to do something about the road but all we get is unending promises,” she added.
Also speaking, an okada rider in the area, Mr. Segun Oludola, said the road had always been like that, stating that the road had damaged many cars and motorcycles and during the dry season, the dust would pollute the air, thus affecting the health of the people in the area.
Oludola said although the State Governor, Dr Ibikunle Amosun, had visited the road, “but we want it done quickly.”
