THE Ondo State government has promised to partner with the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state in the area of risk mitigation and management.
The State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, gave the assurance while declaring open the 2012 Chief Executive Officers Retreat of the NCRIB held in Akure, recently.
Mimiko said that the state government had considered it expedient to patronise insurance professionals in managing and minimising risks that might be incurred on its numerous human and material assets, as part of its transformation initiatives in the state.
He also said that Ondo State, being the bastion of knowledge and eduction, could not but recognise the place of professional bodies as well as collaborate with them for the mutual development of the two parties.
The state governor utilised the forum to counsel insurance brokers on the need to extend their frontiers of public enlightenment to the nooks and crannies of the country while commending the Council for choosing the state as its choice for the Retreat.
Speaking earlier, the President of the NCRIB, Mr. Laide Osijo, commended the progress recorded by the state under the leadership of the current administration and registered the readiness of the Council to collaborate with the state government in taking the state to a position of envy in the comity of nations.
Osijo noted that the retreat, a yearly event, was utilised as a platform of professional and social interaction among chief executives of member companies, noting that the event would feature a lecture on the theme “Building Companies that Outlives their promoters”.
