The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi has assured the new Secretary General of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA), Mr. Michael Luguje of the continued support by the NPA.
In a statement by Chief Michael Ajayi, general manager, Public Affairs, Abdullahi, who was represented by the General Manager Special Duties, Alhaji Abba Rufai Umar, gave this assurance during the official handing over ceremony by the out gone Secretary General of PMAWCA, El Hadji Mar Gueye, which took place at the Rockview Hotel, Park Lane, Apapa.
In his acceptance speech, the new Secretary General, Mr. Michael Luguje thanked all those who made his election a success, especially the Nigerian Ports Authority.
He promised to move PMAWCA to an enviable position.
While congratulating Mr. Michael Luguje, the outgoing Secretary General, El Hadji Mar Gueye expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Ports Authority for the great support he received while in Nigeria for four years. He described the new secretary General as a young, brilliant and well educated man, prepared for the job, who is sure to succeed.
The official signing and handing over ceremony was presided over by Mr. Jeremy Wemegan, who represented the president of PMAWCA Rear Admiral FoganKodjoAdegnon.
Other dignitaries at the occasion include Mr. Kofi Mbiah, CEO Ghana Shippers’ Council; Mr. Richard Anamoo, Managing Director of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority; and Abba Rufai, General Manager Special Duties of Nigerian Ports Authority, among others.
