Despite the marginalization, intimidation and brutality meted on the Tiv ethnic group in Nasaarawa State in recent times, the Tiv people rolled out drums and trooped out enmass in their traditional attire to preach peace on the occasion of Tiv day celebration held recently at Imon in Obi Local Government of Nasarawa State.
As Karl Marx would say “it is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but their social existence that determines their consciousness”.
The youths of society are the driving force of change and development. They are the energetic workers of factories that churn-out goods for trade and consumption. They are custodians of fertile, up-to-date intellect for profound creativity and innovation. 
The people of Nasarawa State, particularly the inhabitants of Alakyo community in Lafia Local Government of the state, would not forget the episode that led to the bloodbath at Alakyo on Tuesday, May 7.
Africa, including Nigeria today is described as the “most hunger-ridden continent” with the resultant effect as unimaginable poverty, and the degradation of the very essence of human dignity. Unless there are dramatic increase in food production especially of productivity improvement of small scale farming and rural transformation, worse is likely to follow.
