Saving Syria from civil war
IN March 2011, the people of Syria joined there brothers from other Arab world to stage their own Arab spring that would see to the end of their sit-tight leader president Bashar al-Assad but since this struggle lots of bloods have been spilled to the consternation of the world that taught the government of president al-Assad would go the way of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya in ensuring peace rain in his country.
The current situation in the country has gone beyond the imagination of the world in ensuring that president Bashar al-Assad relinquishes power rather he had stubbornly refused to negotiate for power to be made more democratic in his country.
Despite the initiatives of the United Nation in seeing that another government makes heads-way in Syria proved abortive to talk more of the different resolutions being suggested at ensuring president Bashar al-Assad bow to public pressure in order to avert the incessant bloodshed rather Syrian allies such like Russia and China block every movement of the United Nation to seeing that Bashar al-Assad steps down.
Furthermore, lots of diplomatic measures have been necessitated in order for the government of president Bashar al-Assad to come to terms with the reality on ground to pave way for political reform rather turned to deaf-ears.
The involvement of the former United Nation Secretary-General, Kofi Annan was widely respected and appreciated but despite several talks with the president, al-Assad to stop the frequent blood-letting of innocent Syrians who are protesting for the good of the nation, the president never acceded.
More so, the recently killings ninety-six people including children in Houla calls for urgent steps to avert the brewing civil war in the offing.
The key to peaceful resolution of the conflict in Syria lies with both Russia and china who should use their link with Syria government to bring end to the senseless killing in that country.
Also the move by some European countries to withdraw their envoys in that country should been seen as step to save the people of Syria from the dictatorship of present al-Assad, who believed wrongly that he only has the ultimate power to rule Syria like his father did when he hold sway when he was alive.
What one hear and see every day was a gory scene of massacre of innocent soul of defenseless civilian who are been rule by senseless leader like president Bashar al-Assad,this should not continue and world just be looking.
We hope countries all over the world would recall their various envoys in that countries to teach the recalcitrant leader like Bashar al-Assad to respect human right of his people by allowing them choose what is good for them.
One is at lost the hypocrisy of this western world by not taking military action like they did with late Muammar Gaddafi when NATO went into that country to save human lives, may be they are afraid of the Syria army determination to bring them to shame.
Every measure must be taking to stop the carnage going on in Syria and not to allow the country plunged into civil war that would not bring any good to that country and the world at large.
