Yoruba will soon be re-integrated into the mainstream of Nigerian politics, Filani

THE YORUBA nation will soon be brought back to the mainstream of the Nigerian politics to correct the imbalance it is currently experiencing. That is the view of the National Vice Chairman, Caretaker Committee, South West zone of the PDP, Mr Ishola Filani, yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Filani gave the assurance at the Zonal Secretariat of the party in Bodija where he led the 16 other members to address journalists on the state of affairs in the party in the South West.

Filani said the caretaker committee, which was constituted by the National Working Committee of the party was given the task of resolving all the differences among the members in the South-West so that the party could reclaim the zone in 2015.

The committee was a child of circumstance that evolved following the suspension of the Segun Oni-led executive in compliance with the court order.

According to Filani,  the committee was not put in place to intimidate, or witch-hunt anybody but to proffer solutions and bring sanity into the party. “We are to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party and rebuild the party.

We are the strongest party in the country; we are to ensure that Yoruba return to the mainstream of politics in the country, and we will ensure that we reclaim all South-West states”.

He further said that, "The committee is a child of circumstance and was put in place to address South-West issues. This is the best time to solve all problems in the region. I want to assure you that our committee will succeed and PDP will win South-West back. We are ready for the fight and we are prepared for it", he boasted.

Asked to disclose the modus operandi of the committee towards resolving the internal crises in the party, Filani, who was flanked by other members including Pegba Otemolu (Secretary) said, "our method is very close to our chest. We will not reveal it to anybody, but all party members are aware of the method we want to adopt”.

On the tenure of the committee, Filani said that it would not leave office until the set objectives were achieved.
